The Role

Coming from the legacy market, Purplefarm Genetics currently operates a 12,000 sq ft facility out of Johnstown, Ontario and expanded into Fredericton, New Brunswick to operate a 90,000 sq ft facility. We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Post Harvest to support our Post Harvest department to ensure our product is of the highest craft quality.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily management of all post-harvest activities, including harvesting, trimming, drying, curing, bucking, packaging preparation, and storage
- Supervise and coach Post-Harvest Technicians to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with SOPs
- Coordinate daily staffing, work assignments, and production schedules to meet operational targets
- Ensure all post-harvest activities comply with Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, GPP requirements, and EUGMP standards
- Monitor drying and curing environments, ensuring temperature, humidity, and airflow remain within established parameters
- Verify all production documentation, batch records, logbooks, and electronic records are accurate, complete, and submitted on time
- Perform line clearances and ensure proper material identification, segregation, and traceability throughout the process
- Monitor product quality throughout post-harvest and promptly escalate deviations or quality concerns to Quality Assurance
- Assist with investigations related to deviations, CAPAs, non-conformances, and customer complaints
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, sanitized, maintained, and calibrated according to approved schedules
- Coordinate with Cultivation, QA, Production, Sanitation, and Logistics to maintain production flow
- Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, yield, quality, and labor utilization
- Monitor production KPIs such as throughput, yield recovery, labor efficiency, waste, schedule adherence, and on-time completion
- Train, mentor, and evaluate employees while promoting cross-training and skill development
- Assist in employee performance reviews
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
- Participate in internal audits, Health Canada inspections, and EUGMP audit preparation activities
- Assist with SOP development, revisions, and implementation of new processes
- Act as the Post-Harvest Manager during absences or as delegated
- Promote a positive culture focused on quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Have or be able to obtain a security clearance
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet productivity and performance requirements
- Demonstrates high attention to detail
- High computer literacy
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to work in a highly regulated environment
- Knowledge of cannabis industry equipment and OH&S regulations
Assets That Will Set You Apart
- Previous cannabis related experience is not necessary but is an asset
Physical & Work Environment
- Be able to work in a physically demanding work environment
- Remaining in a standing position for extended periods of time
- Ability to focus on repetitive tasks
- Hand and finger dexterity required for extended periods
- Consistent hand-eye coordination
- Wearing gloves and other required PPE for extended periods when required
- Working environment can have strong cannabis smells
- Exposure to pollen, allergens, and chemical pesticides in the grow facility or greenhouse
- Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water
Schedule & Position Details
- Full-time position based in Fredericton, New Brunswick
- Overtime and weekends may be required depending on operational needs
Compensation
- Entry Level
- 1–3 years supervisory experience
- $55,000 – $62,000 annually
- Mid-Level
- 3–5 years cannabis/manufacturing experience
- $62,000 – $70,000 annually
- Senior
- 5+ years, GPP/GMP/EUGMP experience
- $70,000 – $80,000 annually
$55,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
